Masters round 13

Incredible scenario for the end of the Masters tournament. 4 of the 5 players who tied for 1st before this final round won their games. Gukesh, Wei Yi, Anish Giri and Nodirbek Abdusattorov played tie-breakers in a 2-game blitz match at a rate of 3 minutes with 2 second increments. As there were 4 players, 2 semi-finals had to be played first: Wei Yi against Abdusattorov and Gukesh against Giri.

It was Wei Yi and Gukesh who won their semi-final and played a final won by Wei Yi by making the difference in the 2nd game with the white pieces. The young Indian was shocked for a few moments, while the Chinese celebrated his success without exuberance.

Challengers Round 13

There were no surprises in the final round of the Challengers tournament. Leon Luke Mendonca won easily against Divya Deshmukh and Marc’Andria Maurizzi couldn’t make the difference with the black pieces against Erwan L’Ami. So it’s the young Indian who wins the Challengers and a place in next year’s Masters.
