18/05/2025 – Despite her victory in Großlobming, Anna Muzychuk misses out on qualification for the Candidates’ Tournament by a hair’s breadth! Zhu Jiner, who got off to a poor start with two defeats, including one to the Ukrainian, turned things around with five consecutive victories. This spectacular comeback enabled her to join Muzychuk at the top of the ranking. After a solid run with three wins in rounds two to four, Muzychuk then only managed draws, unable to distance herself from the Chinese – which could have qualified both players for the Candidates’ Tournament.
